On November 4, 2025, the Partido State University β College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (PSU-CFMS), led by Mr. Raul B. Burce, MSc, conducted an Effectiveness Assessment Workshop to support the shared commitment between the University and the Local Government Unit of Tinambac toward sustainable coastal governance and science-based resource management.
This initiative aims to evaluate the current conditions and performance of the Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in Lamit Bay, especially the AGCA Marine Sanctuary and the San Antonio Marine Sanctuary, ensuring these crucial ecosystems continue to thrive through effective conservation and management strategies. The workshop also explores gaps and opportunities in enforcement, ecological monitoring, and stakeholder participation, aligns local MPA efforts with national standards and policies, and promotes collaborative planning for adaptive, inclusive managementβfurther strengthening the connection between science, policy, and community in local marine governance.
Participants included OIC- Municipal Agriculture Officer Joppet A. Barrameda, MENRO Officer Engr. John Ray Cambaling, CRM Officer Felicito Delos Santos, Municipal Councilors Rosito T. Velarde (Fisheries Committee Chair), Kikay Delos Reyes (Fisheries Vice Chair and Environmental Protection Chair), Gina G. Brioso (Fisheries Vice Chair), along with Local Peopleβs Organization Presidents, Bantay Dagat Members, Community Members involved in MPA management, Barangay Officials from coastal barangays, Technical Staff overseeing MPA monitoring, and LGU focal persons for coastal and fisheries programs.
