BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BARANGAY
Earlier in 1952, a group of people came and settled in a small and low land forested areas just along the shoreline which they called Sitio Macurag up to the present line.
This group of people came from the province of Albay called the Lagaderos. They use to cut trees and utilized it into pieces of lumber and sold them.
In the year 1954, the Lagaderos continued doing this activities until the late President Ramon Magsaysay made a proclamation about the “Land of the Landless” Program. Fortunately this vast mountainous public forest land located in the fourth district of Tinambac was chosen and declared to be one of the resettlement and rehabilitation area called National Agrarian Reform Resettlement Administration (NARRA).
Until then the Lagaderos group became the pioneer settlers and decoded to migrate the place with their families and the population has grown bigger.
In 1955, this place became a small community. The people helping together, in fact they constructed a temporary school building made up of round timber and anahaw leaves for the roofing.
The first school was established during this year named as Macurag Community Primary School started up with 22 pupils as freshly recalled by the narrator of this simple history.
As the years passes by, they live peacefully and they work harder in order to survived. They found their new home and new HOPE in this place.

Barangay PAG-ASA is a progressive and Self-reliant Community with a peace, loving and God fearing constituents, highly civilized, well-informed society, advancing pro-active participatory governance and responsive delivery of basic services.
MISSION
To enhance poverty reduction to through unity and active participation in the community development programs, established a harmonious relationship among the constituents, strengthen linkages between Government Agencies and Private Sectors, adopt an Innovative Technological Advancement for a Sustainable livelihood leading as a vehicle to attained a Positive Vision.
